Tired and Stressed? Read this.

Fatigue is a regular struggle for many of us - men and women alike.
For me being tired changes me in physical, mental and emotional ways. I am just not at the top of my game whenever I am tired. My personality suffers, which effects my relationship with my husband, friends and family. My mood changes. Even my desire to do both necessary and fun activities takes a hit. It seems like nearly everything in my life is, in one way or another, influenced by my energy or lack thereof.
Today I visited one of my favorite websites, webmd.com, to get some answers on what makes people feel fatigued. There I found an impressive list of seven causes as well as a slideshow link to twelve more. You can find the links here and here.
Personally, I have four main causes of fatigue that I have noticed.
Cause #1 Not getting the right amount of sleep.
I have always been taught that the experts recommend that most men get at least seven hours of sleep a night and most women sleep for at least eight. Personally, however, I function much better on nine.
Cause #2 Dehydration.
Our bodies are largely made of water and use water in many of their chemical and physical processes.
Cause #3 Bad food choices.
My body needs vitamins and nutrients to function at its best. Supplements help but are not the ideal substitute for natural nutrients.
Cause #4 Stress.
Stress can affect you mentally as well as physically. Even a few minutes of exercise and quiet time each day can make a huge difference in your overall stress load. It is easier to fit your workout into the rest of your life if you take a few minutes (or even a few seconds) at various points throughout the day to relax, take a deep breath and get in a few stretches, squats, some extra walking or another form of exercise. Your doctor can help you with exercise ideas. Please remember to use caution and always consult your doctor before beginning any kind of exercise program that might put undo strain on your body.
