Preparing your home food pantry
With family budgets growing tighter and tighter, one of the first places consumers look to cut is their food budget. Having a well stocked pantry can help you prepare meals at home more easily, but where do you start? Below are ten simple ideas to help you get started.
1) Know your family's likes and dislikes.
2) Think about family member's unique nutritional needs and limitations.
3) Consider your budget and lifestyle.
4) Know your available storage, preparation and cooking space.
5) Think about your available cookware, tools and appliances.
6) Research substitutes for expensive ingredients and research ingredients with which you are not familiar.
7) Categorize pantry items before you go to the store.
8) Research local sales before you plan and organize your menu.
9) Know what foods are already in your pantry.
10) Take note of expiration dates.
