Is Political Redemption Deductible?
An IRS siteoffers guidelines, and refers those concerned about losing tax exempt status to the case of Branch Ministries Inc. v. Rossotti.
The Reverend of All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena preached a sermon asking parishoners to think about what Jesus would say to George Bush and John Kerry in the 2004 debate over the war in Iraq. The web page is here Sermon
The legal battle over the church’s tax exempt status continues.
(I don’t know if the local Catholic Church, which condemned John Kerry for his pro choice status, and said it would refuse him Holy Communion, is being investigated. Haven’t heard that it is)......
Speaking of law, for those interested in a good website that lists other law related websites, many with free access (increasingly rare, unfortunately), there is Be Spacific Nice site updated frequently, covering a broad range of topics......
From lawyers to money (seems the two are tied together), The Robb Report, the magazine for the very rich, has many of its articles online atRobb Report.
I didn’t, and don’t, buy the magazine because of the cost. I did subscribe to Worth magazine, which for twelve dollars a year gave fun and useful advice on all aspects of money. However, the Robb Report bought that publication, and now the subscription is 40 dollars per year. I haven’t subscribed since. But you can access some articles at Worth.....
At the other end of the spectrum, having been traveling lately, I have recently become acquainted with the term “living off the grid”. Basically, this seems to mean using resources not electrically powered. That is, you are not plugged into the electrical grid crossing the US.
I don’t know if it started with folks traveling in their RV’s or on their boats, and being unable to plug into the usual electrical outlets, or was started by people concerned about conserving energy. However, I am interested in saving as much as I can on my utility bills each month. Here are a couple of sites you might find interesting, with really interesting products.
