Organizing a Clothing Swap
Have you been looking for fun new ways to reduce stress, household clutter, boredom and loneliness? Well, I wish I had a cure-all for all the world's ailments such as these. Unfortunately, however, I don't. What I do have, however, is a place for women to start. It's called a clothing swap. Women all over the nation are beginning to realize that the blouse, skirt, pants, etc. that they once knew and loved but have since tossed aside can take on an entirely new life. Clothing swaps can also be an excellent source of gab time with the girls and a great way to grow old and new friendships in a relaxed setting.
In her article entitled Organize a Clothes Swap, author Marcia Passos Duffy reminisces upon her first experience at a clothing swap. Items of clothing that had little to no value in her mind were treasured by other guests at the clothing swap party.
Duffy, a veteran clothing swap member, offers helpful advice to women interested in organizing their own clothing swap meet. She suggests that helpful elements are a bed on which to pile clothing, two or more full length mirrors, a coin to toss when items are disputed and a changing area. Duffy also recommends asking your friends to invite their friends until you can have a group of approximately 10 to 15 women of various shapes and sizes involved in the swap.
Another website, diylife.com, offers helpful tips for ground rules and organization of the event as well.
Happy swapping!
