Not Blue Jeans

April 15th 2007 21:17
So, I didn't win the charity auction for jeans, but someone gets a nice pair of pants, and the charity gets some cash.

I did swing by the Neiman Marcus site, and picked up a pair of Christopher Blue jeans, normally $180.00, clearance price $35.00, tax roughly $3.00, no shipping charges because of a code at the top of the page (otherwise, about $5.00 ground). Yes, the darn things are possibly the most comfortable pair of jeans I've ever owned. We'll see how things shake out when I don't wash them in cold water, and I do use bleach (not recommended by the manufacturer), because they are white.

Neiman's as usual, superb service, the package arrived in less than a week.

Maybe in Beverly Hills white jeans don't need bleach, but in Nevada, especially when you are trying to housebreak a 10 week old puppy, white jeans are going to get washed in hot water and bleached. But, right now the fit and comfort is very good indeed.

So, a couple of days later I check out Smart Bargains, which is associated with Loehmann's, an old and respected name in retail.

They had Diesel (?) jeans, normally $180.00 for $29.00 (one pair). Right size, wrong wallet, darn it. But I'll be keeping an eye on them for future purchases, as needed. Here's a blurb about their policies.

"SmartBargains.com stands behind every "Loehmann's@SmartBargains.com" product with our 30 Day Returns. Please note, SmartBargains.com
(rather than Loehmann's) is the seller/retailer of all items offered on SmartBargains.com. All "Loehmann's@SmartBargains.com"
merchandise purchased at SmartBargains.com may only be returned to SmartBargains.com in accordance with our return policy. It cannot be returned to Loehmann's store locations."

Oh, and Overstock which has everyday good prices is having a half off sale. Saw some very nice Donna Karan outfits at more than 70% off, and much more. As usual, shipping on your order is a flat $2.95.

Oh, now see... I'm gonna have to start shopping like this! Took the kids out the other day... shopping for the whole family. Not only was everything insanely over-priced, but apparently Kentucky stores only stock UGLY clothes! Ooh, and I'm not kidding... we hit the mall (every store in it), target, walmart, Kohls, fashion bug.... everything was insanely gross. Not one spring dress to be found anywhere....

Online shopping may just be the ticket... and since I really HATE shopping with a passion, it would save me the hassles of traffic and in-store inconveniences!

Great post!

Hello again, Theresa, I see you have me watching my pennies again.

Very informative.

Hi Wendi,
It is discouraging to go to a mall and not feel like any of the clothes are "you". For years, working in an office, I dressed to project a professional appearance (while at home changing to jeans or sweats). But, I always tried to have some of "me" in there. Fabric choice, color, jewelry, whatever. Very, very hard some seasons. The designers were definitely not designing for me. Boutiques seemed an answer, but still hard to find my style, hard to get to, hard to get the time to get there.

Some of the online shops I'm finding are just amazing. You can really get a sense of the store and the style choices they want to offer customers. I'll be featuring some I'm growing fond of. And, of course, without spending your clothing budget on gas, you can always check Neiman's, Saks, and all for their clearance. Um, I guess they have to move seasons and styles pretty quickly for their elite clientele...which is just fine for me. Not too much more than Walmart, and I'm wearing something nice that I like & that should last me for years.

Well, sorry, see what happens when I get started talking about shopping

Hi katyzzz,
Smile - what did my Gram used to say to me??
Watch the pennies, girl, and the dollars will take care of themselves.
Well, sometimes it works that way
