Getting Gas
May 27th 2008 21:08
A financial group, including Citigroup, has won the bid for the opportunity to maintain, and collect tolls for the next 75 years on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. They paid 12.8 billion dollars, for this opportunity. But, aside from my uneasiness about private business buying leases to maintain and charge for public roads..there's the other question... Can anyone can afford gasoline on the turnpike?
The Fuel Gauge Report ,Triple A's site, has information updated daily on gas prices (also, sigh, showing what they used to be.) At the top of the page is Select A Market, which lets you pick an area near you, and see what the average is now, and what they highest price has ever been, and on what day that was.
In my area the highest price ever was a couple of weeks ago.
At the bottom of the page is an option to look at public transportation that might be available in your region. Its called Dump The Pump.
Gas Buddy is another site worth a look. Here you can find out which stations in your area have the lowest reported prices in the last 60 hours. I was surprised to see my relatively small (but wonderful) town in rural Nevada on the site. But, there it was.
But, the prices are still too high...
