Free Taco Bell Food on Facebook
Earlier this year Taco Bell was the subject of a lawsuit over the quality of its taco meat. Now, restaurant marketers are trying to make it right with consumers by offering a printable coupon for a free taco when you fan them on their facebook page.
Although I find the content of Taco Bell's meat like product to be somewhat alarming (read more about it here) I can't help but admire their dedication to trying to appease their patrons. To their credit, Taco Bell does also post nutrition information on their website as do other fast food restaurants. They are also competing in a tough economy for hard to earn American dollars.
I can, however, see both sides of this issue. Restaurants should have an obligation to let the public know if their products contain fillers and other ingredients which may be harmful. Consumers need to be able to make educated choices before making a purchase. True, you get what you pay for, but at the same time, you should know what you are paying for, particularly in light of the economic downturn.
