Spring Fashions On A Budget

March 13th 2007 23:10

Reese Witherspoon wearing J Brand Jeans.

There are some newer (to me, anyway names in fashion that look as though they like women and enjoy choice fabrics.

InStyle Magazine lists a product finder in its online site, and I'm spotlighting three designers that might be interesting to you.

And, of course, I'm trying to find these cute items at a discount...

The J Brand site has plenty of pictures of Kate Beckinsale, Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth wearing their jeansjbrandjeans. Right now it is possible to pick up a pair on sale for 75% off, here Ron Herman Instead of paying $168.00 (or not), these jeans are presently $42.00.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the Ron Herman store having a sale on K A 7, J Brand Jeans and a cute Joie dress, for those where the weather is already sunny.

Joie is a brand started in 2001, concentrating on a lovely silhouette and luxury fabrics. It started pretty much with cargos, but has expanded. The dress shown ws $240.00, on sale now for $60.00.

Julie Gilhart, one of the very few that New York magazine called "The Influentials, is the fashion director of Barneys New York. She says she'll wear anything designed by K A 7, Katayone Adeli's new collection.

Here's a K A 7 hoodend tunic sweater, formerly $385.00, on sale for $96.25. My guess is, barring horrible bad acts, it will last for years.

So, happy shopping for the prettiest, on a reasonable budget....

My daughter and I are preparing to learn, together, how to sew on a sewing machine. We were never taught, but we're confident we can do it if we try. I'm wondering if it will turn out to be cheaper for us to make some of our own uniquely styled clothing than it would to buy clothes already made. We've got ideas on designs and styles we'd like to wear, but we're going to start simple and work our way up. It'd be great if we could design and make our own clothes, able to insure the perfect fit, comfort, and price!

Of course, we dream big and are on limited schedules, so there's no telling how far we'll progress.

Hi Wendi,
Thanks for dropping by.
Your plans sound wonderful. I understand
about the time thing
Don't know if this might interest you, but I came across some nice sites while looking at vintage sewing.
This site actually has textbooks that were used back in the day: Vintage Sewing
and, more current, these two sites have links to all kinds of
creative things for sewing:American Sewing Guild and Australian Sewing Guild
Hope you two have fun.
Theresa
