Gifts & entertainment For Fashionistas

December 11th 2006 20:36
If you, or one of your gift recipients, love fashion, there are some clever internet options available to you now. You can see many of the the clothes and acessories from current telvision shows on SeenOn.com. This site lets you pick a show, and then buy cothes worn by a character whose style you like.

Similarly, there is Like.com At Like.com you pick a celebrity whose style sense you fancy, and the site shows you remarkably similar items at about one quarter of one percent of the price. Very nice.

Now, for the seriously fashion oriented there is the Fantasy Fashion League.com. This site allows you to monitor and "draft" designers the way coaches do in US Football. You earn points with the game, which can earn you gift bags and other goodies. Here's a blurb from the site:

"Summary

What is Fantasy Fashion League?

Fantasy Fashion League (www.fantasyfashionleague.com) is an Internet-based game modeled after fantasy football. In fantasy football, you draft a "fantasy" team of football players from all different teams. You could have a running back on the Eagles and a kicker on the Ravens. You earn points depending on how each of "your" players performs. So, even if the Ravens lose a game, but the kicker on your fantasy team does well, you will earn points.

"Fantasy Fashion is similar in that you draft a "fantasy" team . . . only it is a team of designers and celebrities. Giorgio Armani, Donna Karan, George Clooney - these are your players!

"How does it work?

"You sign up as an individual or with a group of friends. If you sign up as an individual, you are joining what is known as a "Public League." This means you are competing against every other person who joins as an individual in one universal Public League.

"Or you can join with a group of friends and together, you would create your own "Private League." A Private League is made up of 4-12 people, each with her own "team" of designers and celebrities. So each league has 4 to 12 teams.

Whether you are playing in a Public or Private League, you get to manage your own team of designers and celebrities. You name your own team and draft clothing and accessories designers, as well as celebrities. You can even "bench," trade or drop/add designers throughout the season to strengthen your team.

Do all these terms stress you out?! Check out our Glossary for more information!"

No, this will not bring about world peace. If only. Nor will it endow certain celebritries (Britney!) with the good sense to wear beautiful undergarments. But, if you love clothes it is alot of fun to see who is designing what, and what celebrity has the good sense to like your favorite designer!
