Lucky You

March 31st 2007 17:34
Lucky Jeans
So, I need a pair of jeans. And I'm bored with the idea of just running down to the store.
So, I cruise to ebay, to the charity section. A little hard to find at first, so I google ebay charity, and end up with givingworks.ebay.com

It appears I can buy celebrity style, new with tags (Lucky, Joe), for about $20.00, or recycled jeans below, or at the same price. A day earlier I could have found signed Lucky jeans benefiting The National Hemophilia Society. I decide to look at Lucky Jeans in other auctions anyway.

From the site:

"Lucky Brand Jeans became instantly recognized for its attention to fit, but there was one more detail to follow. Gene wanted to put a message in the fly, and came up with the catch phrase “Lucky You.” The irreverent play on words and strategic placement of the “Lucky You” message bucked the 1990’s politically correct climate, attracting some unfavorable advice, “Don’t do it. People won’t buy it, they’ll be offended!”

As promised, Gene refused to compromise and his good-humored “Lucky You” signature was a gamble that paid off. In next to no time, the phones were ringing with people demanding those jeans with the “Lucky You” in the fly.

Lucky Brand Jeans is built on moments like these, of irrefutable attitude and vision without compromise. Los Angeles and the free-spirited Southern California lifestyle continue to inspire the company’s style. The story of Lucky Brand is the story of two great friends moving to California and starting a jeans brand. The rest is history.

Well, that's a lot to ask from a pair of pants, but, I'm looking around. I'm o.k. with jeans right now, I just would like one more pair. If I can get them at a great price and contribute while I'm doing it, so much the better.

The (Secret) Warehouse Sale

March 23rd 2007 21:59
Invitation Only, Must RSVP
O.k., this was a little hard to find; sheesh, an invitation only, must RSVP, sale?....

But, here is the website: The Warehouse Sale and if you go there, hopefully your city will be listed on the national schedule.

For every 5 pairs of new, sample, sale jeans, priced below wholesale, you get the 6th pair free.

From folks who've shopped at previous sample sales from these folks, the selection is great, there are dressing rooms, and you might want to arrive early, because other women do, and they buy...

From the web page:
"Denim has been a California staple for over a century... this is one trend that is definitely here to stay! So how do you keep up with the crystalized, studded, embroidered, embellished, metallicized, leathered and weathered pockets that pop up every season?

Let us help you. The Warehouse Sale is an exclusive, invite-only denim sample sale that offers the newest and hottest styles of the season in your favorite brands for both Men & Women. Get ahead of the trends and be the first to rock up-and-coming labels. With everything priced BELOW WHOLESALE, we make it easy for you to try new styles or brands without guilt.

We'll be stopping by fashionable cities all around California to help you find your perfect pair of jeans for every occasion."

They will also be in Washington, Nevada, and Arizona...

Good luck...

Movie Clothes At A Smart Price

March 17th 2007 16:10
I came across an intersting website, backlotprops.

They sell/auction, on ebay, various items from movies, some quite memorable, The Matrix, V for Vendetta, some, well, Beerfest.

One auction going on right now is not for a single item, but for 50, and includes, presumably, items worn, or not, by extras in movies. Some items still have the tags on. With names like Anne Klein and Joie in the auction, it is amazing that 50 items are currently listed for, and will possibly be bought for $149.00 (plus $55.00 shipping). Who would have guessed?

The auction link (it ends tomorrow, one bid only) is here if you'd like to look

(I posted it two different ways since the long link didn't seem to fit the system....)

You might want to check them out. Possible to get items for yourself or family, and pay for it with re-sale... So, basically, free...

The Academy Awards had, as usual, had men and women wearing some gorgeous clothes most of us will never be able to afford ($100,000.00 for a dress?), plus the expected, um, arguable errors in choice. Although, since taste in clothing is personal, what is right and wrong?

Since I’ve been running around and unpacking from my latest move, offline, I had just thrown a link here, but, finally, here are all links

Caring For Clothes

It's a running joke in my family about how long I keep clothes I really like. Someone will say I've had something 18 years and I'll swear I've only had it for eight years. But, this site makes a science of preserving the quality of your quality clothes The Clothing Doctor Enjoy
